Valmasque is a small family-run kennel based in Shropshire (UK). We are the owners and breeders of two types of Swiss Mountain Dogs: the Entlebucher Mountain Dog and the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. The Swiss Mountain Dogs are working breeds originating from farms often located in remote areas of Switzerland. The Entlebucher was originally used for herding cattle, and the Greater Swiss (or Swissie) as a draft dog for pulling carts of produce to market. As occasional breeders, we wish to maintain the inherent working characteristics of the breeds. Our aims are to produce healthy puppies with good structure and stable temperaments that grow up to be well-balanced, sociable dogs. To achieve this, we adhere to the relevant British Veterinary schemes when health testing. Our dogs and puppies are raised in the home environment with lots of interaction to promote early socialization. As a farmer's dog, the Swiss Mountain breeds are naturally sociable and used to working and being around people and other animals. With commitment and training, both breeds can make wonderful companions and outstandingly loyal family pets. See Our Entlebuchers or Our Swissies... |
Born in the UK in 1963, Lucy qualified as a textile designer and spent the early part of her career designing fabrics for the fashion industry. A move in 1999 to the South of France resulted in a dynamic change in direction in the way Lucy worked. Inspired by the stunning scenery and the vivid colours afforded by a “southern light”, Lucy began to paint dramatic colourful landscapes of the Cote d’Azur and Provence. She has since returned to the UK where she continues to explore the textures and colour found in landscape. Working expressively in a variety of media, her work reflects an instinctive approach to painting as a means of capturing the changing moods and atmosphere of the natural world. In the same way, her paintings of people respond to the drama of emotions and feelings; the essence of what it is to be human. Lucy also works as an art teacher in a hospital for young people. In addition to teaching and exhibiting, you can also contact her with any requests for paintings or pictures or even your dog’s portrait :) |
